I used to have a rack of 1073s that I happily sold when I heard how great the Unison pres sounded with a number of the analog emulations. All anecdotal, but enough for me to stick with a bigger player for such a critical piece of equipment. Even Apogee seems to have been struggling to support pro users. Ask anyone who's had to deal with support at Antelope how that's gone. Whether it's drivers or technical support/warranty stuff, UA is definitely more reliable than a lot of the other players. Sure, there are "better" or "different" sounding options out there but my ears are happy with what comes out of the speakers and plenty of massive records are being made without issue with apollos. The audio performance is really great.Actually looking to expand my I/O soon haven't really considered going any other route. Despite that, I'd still say my first choice for an interface would be an apollo. Also, UAD plugins cause a big hit on offline processing/bouncing relative to a lot of native options. I don't care for having to manage DSP resources with such powerful native options available. It's been great! That said, I'm not huge on UAD plugins. I've been on an apollo for a few years now.
